This five night retreat will offer time and space to breathe and be inspired.

What will you learn?

This 5-night retreat aims to provide the time, space, tools and inspiration to help us to let go of outdated habits and stories, allowing us to write new ones afresh that serve us better.

We will invite authenticity of movement and breathing through the practice of Alexander Technique, Art of Breathing and Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi.

Creative writing activities will simultaneously look inwards towards autobiography and outwards towards the organic surroundings. These will help us to unplug from exterior media and narratives in order to encounter a more primary and original sense of being and identity for ourselves.

How will we work?

The retreat is suitable for anyone, even those with no previous experience of the activities. We will create work groups based on the experience of the participants so that we can better meet you at your personal level. When the weather suits, which usually means all the time, we will be working with the whole group together outdoors, surrounded by the tranquillity and beautiful countryside of this very special place.

The schedule will look something like this.

9.45 Alexander Technique & Art of Breathing Workshop

11.15 Individual AT sessions or Group Writing Session

13.30 Lunch followed by Siesta/Free Time

16.30 Creative Writing Workshop

18.00 Guided Walk  or Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi or Free time

20.30 Dinner

There will be 2 guided walks and everyone will receive two individual, 30 minute one-to-one Alexander Technique sessions during the course. There will also be free time to write, walk or relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Workshops will be given in Spanish and English

Where are we staying?

Breathing courses - Mountains and Sea

Our delightful guesthouse that sits at the top of a tiny traditional Alpujarra rural village. All rooms are ensuite and it has lovely communal spaces and terraces with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.

The location offers spectacular scenery with many walking paths and you are rarely far from the sound of running water from fountains full of fresh, naturally carbonated water that will help put a spring in your step.

  We will be provided with delicious vegetarian meals with seasonal local ingredients by our wonderful chef. She can adapt to your dietary requirements with advance notice. 

There will be teas, coffee and snacks for the breaks and, for those who wish, there will also be a tasty ham from the nearby village of Trévelez and good local wine.
